The “Mujeres de Montaña” Tourism Route brings together women entrepreneurs from the department of Iglesia offer experiences tailored for tourists and visitors, combining activities, services, and products that reflect the region’s unique character. This initiative evolved from the “Mujeres en Red” program, which is run by Vicuña’s Community Relations department, and has established a collaborative approach aimed at strengthening local businesses.

Among its main objectives, the Route aims to strengthen the management skills of female entrepreneurs, organize and consolidate the tourism offerings to attract new audiences—particularly groups and families—and promote continuous improvements in individual projects through the power of teamwork. It also promotes a holistic approach that incorporates family dynamics into the development of each initiative.

The initiative was very well received by municipal and provincial tourism agencies, which highlighted its contribution to diversifying the offerings in Iglesia, complementing established attractions such as the Cuesta del Viento Dam, and expanding the options available to visitors to the department.

The initial group consisted of 20 women who participated in training and mentoring sessions, particularly valuing the opportunity to rethink their business models and create synergies through collaboration. Over time, and for various personal, professional, or health-related reasons, the group consolidated into 12 entrepreneurs who are now the founders of this Route, having conducted a pilot program during the 2025–2026 summer season.

The process is supported by SIRIRI, an organization with more than 20 years of experience in empowering rural entrepreneurs through sustainable tourism. Through training, mentoring, and ongoing support, SIRIRI promotes self-management, community roots, and the development of initiatives that highlight the value of the region and its people.

Vicuña supports initiatives that promote community development, strengthen local economies, and create new opportunities through collaboration and a sense of regional identity. It also fosters environments that nurture local talent and contribute to sustainable growth in the region.
